Re Sydney WTO Demonstration Coverage
Give Ian Cohen and Peace a Chance
How can your reporter (Daily Tele 14-11-02) make the gigantic leap from Ian Cohen's statement that the "Greens were encouraging peaceful demonstrations" to the florid headling, "Greens Refuse To Pledge Non-Violence"?
Ian Cohen was widely credited with averting violence in the Melbourne anti-globalization rallies.
He has been involved in peaceful demonstrations for decades and is arguably the most experienced advocate of peaceful non-violent civil disobedience in Australia.
If he says that he is trying to encourage peacefulness then that is what he will try to deliver.
