Dear Editor
Kyoto? Watch Your Back Yard Bob!
I note Monday's ABC web site story on how Premier Bob Carr is attacking the Commonwealth for not signing the Kyoto protocol and how he "...would like it for NSW to go it alone..." on green house gas controls.
I will be putting a motion to tonight's (17-9-02) Randwick City Council meeting urging the preservation of the Anzac Parade light rail corridor by the retaining of the central median strip down which the old trams once ran.
At the time of writing I have utterly no doubt that the ALP controlled Council will vote my motion down in order to allow the road to be widened for greater car use.
The irony will be that Randwick is the council that Bob Carr lives in and holds his seat in.
While he does not care if the Commonwealth is with him, he will surely appreciate the PR value of having at least his own Council on side.
He has until tonight to ring right wing ALP Mayor Dominic Sullivan and suggest that he does not want to see Randwick lining up with John Howard and the Commonwealth in undermining the Kyoto protocol.
Yours sincerely
