Heffron
Park Upgrade: Only One out of Three Local Labor MP's lobbying for
State Funding.
home
Labor
MP's Michael Daley and Kristina Keneally have apparently not yet
responded to a Randwick Council call for financial help in the
upgrade of the Heffron Park sporting complex.
But their Coogee
colleague Paul Pearce has responded by lobbying the Premier for
financial support in a letter, a copy of which he has forwarded to
the Council.
The Greens are now calling on Keneally and Daley
to do the same.
Greens Councillor Murray Matson has been
vigorously pushing the proposed $40 million upgrade but has not yet
been able to secure the support of all three of the local Labor MP's
for the obtaining of State funding.
Cr Matson describes
gaining the support of Michael Daley as “critically important"
because Daley is also a Randwick City Councillor.
Cr Matson
elaborated,
“To convince the Premier that Heffron Park
is of value to the entire eastern suburbs it is critically important
that I get the support of my fellow Councillor Michael Daley. With
out Councillor Daley's support the Council will be seen as divided
over the merits of the proposal.”
