Greens/Labor Clash Over Beach Palace Hotel.

 home

Labor Councillor Dominic Sullivan stormed out of last night's Council meeting following debate with Greens Councillor's  Murray Matson and Margaret Woodsmith over the Beach Palace Hotel.

The exchange was one of many battles the three Councilors have waged over what Matson calls Sullivan's sympathetic support for the liquor industry in Coogee.

Cr Matson latter supplied the Southern Courier with information extracted online from the NSW Election Funding Authority showing that the Palace has donated to Labor party election campaigns.

The Palace donated $9,999 to state NSW Labor party in 2007 and $1,000 to sitting Labor Councillor and Maroubra MP, Michael Daley in 2006.

Cr Matson said after the Randwick City Council meeting,

"Labor Cr Sullivan chose to get angry with the Greens and make a big show of storming out of the meeting in an appalling display of childishness.

Cr Sullivan can get as emotional as he likes when he abuses the Greens for being against the Coogee pubs, but he needs to explain why the Labor party accepts donations from them - and how that does not influence decision making."
