Greens Recommit to Inclusive Mayoral Sharing in Randwick

home

With the next mayoral election for Randwick due in September, the Greens are committed to continue their local group's principle of inclusive sharing of the Randwick City Council mayorship.

After supporting a Liberal candidate in 2008 and a Labor candidate in 2009, the Greens councillors will stand a candidate for mayor in 2010 and support a Liberal mayor again in 2011.

Similarly, the Greens will support a Liberal deputy mayor in 2010 and stand a candidate for deputy mayor in 2011.

The Greens expect that all councillors will honour their previously stated positions in regards to this agreement. Including a commitment made by Bruce Notley-Smith on behalf of the Liberals in 2009 to support a Green mayor this year.

A similar agreement that held throughout the previous term proved successful in reforming the council, leading to better outcomes for Randwick and it's residents.
