I found myself having dinner with ex South Sydney ALP Mayor Vic Smith again last night. It was again at the expense of Randwick's ratepayers.

It was the usual dinner for staff and Councillors from that night's committee meetings. What Vic, an ex Councillor from another Council, was doing there again baffles me.

Vic had sat in the public gallery that night displaying interest in how development consultant Silvia Smits argued for approval for a development at 6 Bloomfield Street, Coogee.

Latter Dominic moved a motion for approval.

I moved an amendment that it be approved but with a specific condition attached.

It was a condition that Council's own planning staff had recommended should be attached to the consent in order to reduce the buildings' height.

This one little condition was the only difference between the Mayor and me.

But ALP Chairperson Michael Daley ruled me out of order on the completely wrong grounds that I was proposing a "direct negative" of the Mayor's motion.

I defy Michael to produce any clause in the Local Government Meeting Regulation that says he was right.

He won't produce it because he can't.
