MEDIA STATEMENT
On the Pending Parking Meter Rallies
home
The following may be attributed as quote to Randwick City Mayor Murray Matson.
"I regard the pending rallies over this weekend as useful indicators of public opinion on the matter of Randwick City Council's five identified parking meter precinct areas.
I have corresponded with various constituents this week clarifying that I will wait till after the formal close of public submissions on the 12th August before assessing whether any of the precincts should be amended in size."
I attach an example of this correspondence below.

Dear Constituent
Recently, you were one of many who emailed or wrote your concerns to me over Council's five identified parking meter precincts.
I am afraid that I am not in a position to individually reply to all these inquiries at the moment but will endeavor to do so in the near future.
In the interim, please note that the exhibition period for comment formerly ends on the 12th August.
I urge all residents to consider whether meters (which you be exempted from) in your street will free up parking for you, and to make such a submission if you have not already done so.
I am personally committed to considering all submissions received and taking appropriate action in response to them.
This means that I am also committed to trimming or expanding on the number of streets covered in each precinct if such a response is required.
Council will be redistributing our previously letter boxed parking meter explanatory insert to the five identified precinct areas. Any resulting late submissions from these five areas will be still be considered and taken into account by Council.
Please feel free to pass on this email.
Yours sincerely
Murray Matson
Mayor Randwick City Council
