Federal Election 2010: Randwick-Botany Greens Back Green Senator’s Call for Protection of Chinese Gardens

home

Greens candidate Lindsay Shurey states that local Green councillors support Senator Milne’s call of this morning for …

"…all levels of government to work together to safeguard food producing land and ensure food security in the Sydney Basin."

Ms Shurey said that Randwick City Greens Councillors would continue to fight to protect the Chinese Gardens at La Perouse.

She said,

"The local greens agree with Senator Milne that the Chinese Gardens should be sustained as a food source and our Green Randwick City Councillors are currently working to save them.

This meshes with other local food projects the Greens are working on. For instances Greens Councillor Matson has recently successfully moved that a community garden be supported on land at the corner of Mount and Dolphin Streets Coogee."
