ALP Councillor Alleged to have Received Council
Resources in Preselection Bid for By-election.
Labor Councillor Chris Bastic is facing allegations
that Council resources were used to produce a how-to-vote card for him to hand
out in his party's preselection process for the recent Maroubra by-election.
A motion will be debated at next Tuesday night's
Council meeting on the claim that,
"ALP Councillor Chris Bastic has allegedly
benefited from the production by Randwick City Council staff of political 'How
to vote' cards."
The motion put Greens Cr Murray Matson and Liberal
Councillor Bruce Notley-Smith will recommend that …
“…the General Manager convene a meeting of the
Conduct Committee and bring before it all details of Cr Bastic's alleged
actions in regards to the production of 'How to vote' cards for him."
Greens Councillor Murray Matson stated on Friday
that,
"I have been shown the how-to-vote card that has
been allegedly printed by Randwick Council staff for Cr Bastic's personal use
in the Labor party's internal preselection process. It raises a number of
serious issues that need to be answered by Cr Bastic."
